Good Morning

I have been lurking here for a number of years...
I apologize for my first post being a question.

I recently updated my spy-ware utills on XP pro when SUPERAntiSpyware requested a restart.

Suspicious bastard that I am, I always check what will run with the WhyReboot? utility.

There is an entry trying to run:

REGISTRY: RunOnce
> WIAWizardMenu: "RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\sti_ci.dll,WiaCreateWizardMenu" in Global RunOnce registry
REGISTRY: RunOnce END.

I checked up on the file sti_ci.dll and it seems to be a file windows 98 used to run older web cams.

After checking for the correct file hash on google, I started looking for the file on my computer.
I could not find it. :flowers:

Why would SUPERAntiSpyware register a win 98 webcam dll that does not exist on my XP machine?

Edit: I decided to delete the entry just to be safe...

Hi there!
Thanks for the reply.

Yes I did...
The problem I have is that I am pretty sure it was not there before I installed SuperAntiSpyware...
Also, Nothing on my system needs it...

Cant remember where I got the SuperAntiSpyware install exe so I wanted to know if this was known.

I dont want to install this if it does wierd things like registering unknown dll's....

Are you sure it was not there? Rightclick the file and check the date it was created.

there is no dll file...
Only the reg entry.

That is what's bugging me...

I am 100% sure that entry had to have happened today and the only thing I did was update SuperAntiSpyware.

I deleted the entry anyway.

Will post again if it comes back.

I like SuperAntiSpyware actually. So much so in fact, that I went against the grain and bought the paid version.

Cheers

I like it too.
Not sure about the reg entry though.
The entry has not come back yet...
