Hi

I've tried many programs to sort this out but no look, It started yesterday after looking at some webpages

I noticed something was connecting to the net all the time so I opened Sygate Log and found these entries

copperbase.info (63.62.243.3 )
checkip.dyndns.org (204.13.249.51)
gmail-smtp-in.i.google.com (66.249.93.114)
a.mx.mail.yahoo.com (209.191.118.103)
mxs.mail.ru (194.67.23.20 )
gsmtp183.google.com (64.233.183.27)
d.mx.mail.yahoo.com (216.39.53.2)

The first 2 seem to access the most, I found that i had ntos.exe and did a system restore which got rid of
ntos.exe, but still can't get rid of the above.

I tried
Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal
AVG Anti-Spyware
CWShredder
CCleaner
Spybot - Search & Destroy
hijackthis
even an online scanner http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

but nothing seems to stop these things

Hello zzantor

Sorry for the late reply, but as you can see we handle more than our fair share of logs. If you still have problems please follow the steps below and we can begin the cleaning process.

The HijackThis version that you are using is still in beta, therefore it is not supported.

Please go here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/hijackthis.php download HijackThis and extract it to a directory on your hard drive called C:\HijackThis. Then navigate to that directory and double-click on the hijackthis.exe file. When the program is started click on the Scan button and then the Save Log button to create a log of your information.

Post that log here and please make sure to include the whole log in the post, starting from Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 until its end.

Thank you!
SNOWHITE

Hello zzantor

Please re-open HiJackThis and click on "Do a system scan only". Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O8 - Extra context menu item: Download All Files by HiDownload - C:\Program Files\HiDownload\HDGetAll.htm
O9 - Extra button: HiDownload - {F4FBA929-A891-492C-A0F6-5C79CC4F1742} - C:\Program Files\HiDownload\hidownload.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

HiDownload

Please note any other programs that you don't recognize in that list in your next response

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\HiDownload << Delete this folder

Close Windows Explorer.

You are using DAP which is not technically malware, but it may include malware and allow it into your system. Note that the free version is adware based. If it is the free, ad-supported version, then I recommend that you uninstall it. You can find safer alternatives here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=dlman#dlman

If you decide to remove it:

Please re-open HiJackThis and click on "Do a system scan only". Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Download with &DAP - C:\Program Files\DAP\dapextie.htm
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download &all with DAP - C:\Program Files\DAP\dapextie2.htm

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Download Accelerator Plus (DAP)

Please delete these folder (if present):

C:\Program Files\DAP << This folder

Now, follow this steps:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
    • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.
  • Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
      Under Main choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
  • Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
  • AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
  • Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
  • Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan.

Somethings Hijack window explorer and avast

Can you provide me with some more information on this, like are you getting any error reports, is your antivirus updated with the latest updates, have you ran scan with avast ?

I don't see anything else in your HijackThis log that could cause you problems, run the next tool too and post the reports back together with AVG Anti-Spyware report scan.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
Regards,
SNOWHITE
