I have : HL-DT DVD-ROM GDR8161B and LITE-ON LTR-482465 drives...

With a good disc in the drive I get a message to "insert disc in drive E" or drive F....

What can I do ????

Thanks

Did they work before or did you just install one of the drives? Did you check to make sure the jumper settings are correct on the back of each drive?

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Does it not recognize DVDs nor CDs?
Does it make any difference if they're pressed (manufactured) CD/DVDs or burned CD/DVDs?

Both worked when computer was purchased.... I ran the hardware check-- it said there were no problems.. The DVD will read and play MOST of the time but will not transfer info from computer to disc.... The CD player always responds "Insert disc into drive E (or F)"---- I have uninstalled and reinstalled - same result---- I have tried the go back in time to a point where the drives operated -- no help--

Thanks

The CDROM sounds like it's simply dead, I would have it replaced.
I'm not sure what you mean by the statement I bolded there. Are you saying you can't burn DVDs?
