I am trying to take out a ROM DVD and install a RW DVD. But I can't get the cable connector out of the old one. I don't see a lock, but is there one? As you might guess, I've never done this sort of thing before.

some IDE Ribbon cables have locks on the connectors although it is very rare. If there is no lock in the top center of the connector try wiggling the connector back and forth gently as sometimes they get stuck tight. This also works with the Power connector but I have never seen a power connector with a lock
