I bought a laptop today from my neighbor. he needed the cash and wanted to sell it quick so I offered him $160USD for it here are the specs

Dell Latitude C600
6 GB Hard Drive (Wiped Clean)
256 Mb RAM
Windows XP Pro Corporate Edition (fresh install)
24x cd drive
unisys wired IR mouse and USB multitap (cause the touchpad buttons are messed up)

did I give him enough or did I lowball him too much??

I would say that was fair, and especially if you got the keyboard, discs and monitor too. Even if you didn't get those parts, the computer can be used to do other tasks, and at the same time, you'll take alot of strain off of your main computer.

There are plenty of programs you can load and specifically do on just that computer. And also, using certain programs on that computer, speed won't even be an issue.

This is not a moral dilemma. This was a simple business transaction. You offered what you believed would make the computer an attractive purchase. He accepted because he probably felt lucky to get that much and have such a quick sale.

Seems all parties have been well served.

Actually, I think as long as you both are generally satisfied with the transaction,
that's the nature of free commerce.
