We Have to move Hijackthis to it's own folder because In it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later

Click START>My Computer >right click Local Disk (usually (C:) for most people)>Explore.
Right click an open area in the main panel.
Select New > Folder.
Type in HJT & press Enter

Now We have Created C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

Please Post a Fresh Hijackthis log in your next reply.

Hello There

Did you follow my Instructions in Post #3 on how to Move Hijackthis to it's own Folder?

Your are still running Hijackthis from your desktop :/

If there is something you don't understand, please ask.

Take a look over here on how to move hijackthis to it's own folder http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/25912/unzip-hijackthismake-a-shortcut/ Or follow my instructions in Post #3 :flowers:

i did follow your instructions. all it does is put a shortcut inside that folder. i wonder what difference does this make? i've never been asked to move it from the desktop before.

If you have now moved it to it's folder Please Post a Fresh Hijackthis logfile in your next reply.

This is Why you move Hijackthis to it's own folder:

We Have to move Hijackthis to it's own folder because In it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later

well i did do everything you said including reposting the hijack this log so apparently i need to just totally re-install hijack this and put it in its own folder to begin with. im not sure how else to move it...all it does is copy it to another location and create a shortcut...the one on the desktop still remains.
