When I hit a key to wake up my laptop the hard drive kicks in but the screen will not come back. I have to do a hard reboot.

I don't have the power mgt. set to go into the sleep or hibernate modes. I have it set to turn off the monitor and then later the hard drive.

Any thoughts?

This may be an issue with the display driver. Try visiting IBM's website to download the latest version and see if that clears up the trouble.
