Swapping Hard Drives...whats The Best Way?

hi.i am planning on swapping hard drives and the one i am swapping out needs to have the exact os from the one ill be having.the hard drive i am getting will be formatted an then ill use my recovery discs but the other one has not got recovery discs for it.can i use an image prog?also the hard drive has a hp recovery partition on and that needs to be swapped onto my old one too!!sorry if this doesnt make sense but i have just done a night shift an im knackered!! :flowers: :thumbsup:

p.s there is no extra files its just the os files and the recovery partition that needs copying!!
