Can anyone help please? I have the windows installed this is the Sony Vaio <sp is correct this time> but when I boot up it goes into check disk, runs that shuts down, goes into check disk, over and over again. If I choose to skip the check disk it does not do anything. Can anyone help me with this please?

It seems that perhaps the install was corrupted. I would try re-installing Windows.

Generally this is caused by the "dirty bit" on your hard drive being marked as dirty - and chkdsk isn't resetting it when it runs. As Budapest suggests, a repair install might fix it ( http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm )

If that doesn't work, then the only sure-fire way that I know of is a format of the hard drive and a reinstall of the operating system (don't forget to backup first!).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
