Sata Hd With Ide Computer

i purchased a SATA HD and didnt realize that my compter was IDE, and since then i have noticed it slow down on certain tasks, is there an adapter i can get to make it work faster? this is what i was told to ask.

There's adapters, but I don't know if they help with the speed or not. Also depends on what the speed of your HD is (most likely 7200 RPM).
