I keep getting a message saying Runtime Error 218. And then IE.application error. Is there a way to fix this. I get this message sometimes when I close the Internet Explorer, and I hate this message when it comes up, nobody likes it. No good to computer. I have Windows XP Media Center.

If you have IE6, try uninstalling and then reinstalling SP2

If you have IE7, try removing it (and reverting back to IE6). If that fixes it, then you can try installing IE7 again to see if the error recurs.

Thanks, but I did both already and it didn't work. It has to be the spyware or adware affecting my Internet Explorer and it increases more in the PF Usage of my task manager each time I open a Internet Explorer.

The online scan didn't work? If so, then I'd suggest that you post a HiJackThis log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/

There's instruction on how to prepare and submit a logfile that are pinned to the top of the forum.

I'd suggest that you stop working on the computer until the HiJackThis log is completed. System changes will make the HJT Team's job more difficult (and may hide some problems).

You can repost here when the log is certified as clean and we can clear up any remaining problems.

Nope, nothing until the HJT log is finished. If you keep posting problems here and disregarding the advice of the HJT Team - a mod will lock the thread.

No problem - this happens sometimes and we try to let you know about it.

To delete a thread, you'll have to PM a mod and ask them. Otherwise, just leave it and it'll float to the bottom of the list after a time (that's also the purpose of posting the "leave it alone while the HJT log is being worked" - it lets others know to leave the thread alone)

Good luck, and we'll be waiting for you to let us know when the log is done!
