Had a bad infection from the ehknqtwz.dll download.trojan. This is a porn dialer and the trojan turned out to be difficult to remove following the instructions on this tutorial.

A lot more work needs to be done to check out the registry entry and at present I am stuck with it. The only option is to reinstall the Win2000 OS which I am trying to avoid.

I'll be happy to send the HijackThis report for further pointers to troubleshooting and
the deletion of the ehknqtz.dll file.

Yes, Valentine, please post a HJT log after reading HERE
That way we are "on the same page" when discussing the issue.
References to the tutorial might be made when we see the log here in the section we typically work on them in.

I'm unclear whether you are referencing
  • an old log, previously infected, that you worked on?
  • one that is current showing no infection,
  • but has registry problems that remained after your fix?
  • or, that you presently have an infection
  • that you'd like help with to avoid a reload?
Please include comments with the log to clarify.
