Any error messages? At what point does it stop?

Is the hard drive completely clean? if the cd will start to install then crash, it could be to do with partitions, the XP cd comes with a tool to delete all the partitions and start a new one.

Hope this helps
Regards,

Alan.

Is the hard drive a SATA hard drive? If so, did he load the drivers when prompted to do so? (it's a prompt at the bottom of the installation screen that says something to the effect of "Press F6 to install RAID/SCSI drivers")
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
