Whenever I put a web address in the address bar and hit Enter or click on Go it knocks me out of the browser and takes me back to my desktop. I can access my favorites and everything like that it's just when I use the address bar. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Bleeping Computer cdoty.

Try this. Go to the Control Panel, then Internet Options, then click on the Advanced Tab.
Scroll down to Search from Address Bar.
Is the radio button selected on Do Not Search From Address Bar.?
If it is, unselect it and click Okay.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
