Common sense is that end-user support requires BROAD people interaction, and I think that may not be the right type of job for introverted people. There are options to seek graveyard or weekend shift work, but that's not always available simply because of your need.

Apart from being a programmer (Java, C++ and etc), what types of IT jobs can be right for people who are introverts and are not a great people person?

Please, thoughtful and respectful responses please.

The first thing that enters my mind is if one could work from home. Simply log into their works network, and plug away all day, doing programming, making changes to network, applying patches, monitoring servers, running scripts, etc. etc.

I have a friend whom works for Gillette. He's able to work from home from time to time, he just has to log into "work" from home and do his thing. I'm sure that larger companies would be able to swing something like that.

Not to crash the party here, but isn't all of this discussed in another thread, by the same poster?

Going off subject, yet staying on the same subject isn't bad at all, within the same post.

This .. to me seems to tie all into the original post I first replied to. If this is totally out of my jurisdiction, please let me know. I just want to make sure I'm not replying to the same post,,, but worded differently.

One Man's Opinion.

Typically, double posting is frowned up Walkman. I hadn't seen the other post that you're talking about, otherwise I would've posted in that one rather than in one that's a duplicate. A mod will find this double post and take appropriate action(s).
