I was downloading a Scrabble Game and this icon appeared on my desktop. I gave up waiting for the download to finish so I tried to delete the icon. I couldn't. It said it is being used by another person or progam. Nothing seems to work - have tried Spy-bot, AVG, Ad-Aware, McAfee but it is still there and starting to scare me. Any suggestions?

Reboot into safe mode and delete it.

Start up in safe mode and try again.

Have you checked the folder's/file's Properties?
Right click the folder, and select Properties.
Make sure it's not set to Read-only.
If it is, uncheck it, click Apply, and click OK.
Now try to delete it.

If none of the above works, here are a couple of programs, you can try:

Eraser
Unlocker
Delete DEoctor
