Here's one for you smarter kids in the class:

Just tried to install a new power supply (upgrade) to my Dell Dim.8400 and realized that Dell power supplies did not conform to industry standards ( thank-you Mikey Dell), so I go ahead and reinstall the old supply, plus a card fan and pci usb card.

Fire the computer back up and, woe is me, it says disk drives 4 and 5 were missing, or something like that. I can do everything else but operate those dvd and burner disks. I'm chicken to mess with the bios although I do know how to navigate around in it. What gives, boyz and girlz???

Thanx up front,
Joe

First things first. Double and triple check all the cables, including the IDE cables. Unless they're snug, they won't work.
