Hello,
I have been infected with the Spydawn virus, I ran Adaware before I had even searched for information about the virus just because I recognized its behavior to be strange. My computer then said it needed to shutdown half way through this process and did so within a minute. Booting back up only got as far as the welcome screen and then it would reboot itself again. I have tried re-booting in safe mode, administrator, with command terminal and so on, same story. I have tried running log error processes, these just tell me there are problems with windows.

I can put a windows disc in and boot from it and end up in command prompt

[C:/WINDOWS:]

What would I have to type here to get rid of this virus and the dll files spoke of in the system 32 folder:
gepixss.dll
higehsg.dll
tvomnc.dll
xkrdk.dll

I am thinking that if I get rid of these it may then boot into windows, what should I type in the prompt screen, its been a while since I have had to deal with windows machines as I have a Mac, haha

if i just re-install windows will it just write over the windows directory or will the other stuff on the hard disk disappear too?

Any help would be much appreciated as I am a little lost at this point in time. Many Thanks
Lawrence

very helpful, you failed to realize I cant boot into windows, hence my post on this forum for a problem which appears to have no documented solution. I am very aware of the windows procedure of removal, if only i could get into windows!!!

I have booted in command prompt recently and tried copying the files i need to a slave drive, however it is coming back with access denied; any ideas anyone why i have restricted privileges in command prompt?

Also, what if i run my drive as a slave on another machine, will it be safe to do so? Any feedback appreciated
