My computer has been infected with both 180 solutions and 2nd thought and I can't seem to remove them. I tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Please help. I have ran spybot sd and I have pc-cillin. The only way I even knew what I had these problems is all the popups and Adsgone Spyware Blocker Popup Killer 2007 found them.

Hello and welcome to BC.

If you've not received help elsewhere and still need help, please click on HERE to download a self extractable version of hijackthis . Double click on hijackthis.exe to extract hijackthis to folder c:\hijackthis. It will extract it to that folder and open the folder for you. It will also create a shortcut on your desktop to hijackthis.

Scan with HijackThis. Save the log and post it here in your reply in this thread. I'll be happy to help you.

Hi,

NoAdware is not one of the more well known anti-spyware applications, and isn't really a program that I would recommend when there are more widely recognized programs available. I would instead recommend something like Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, or Windows Defender (all Free).

Please disable and close NoAdware to prevent it from interferring with this fix.

Scan with HijackThis and put a checkmark against the following entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - rsion - (no file)

Since you've uninstalled Norton and installed TrendMicro instead I suggest you fix this too:

O23 - Service: Norton Unerase Protection (NProtectService) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities\NPROTECT.EXE

Close all browsers including this one and click on "fix checked". Exit HijackThis.

=================================

Go to Start > Run. Copy/Paste or type:

1) sc stop NProtectService and then click OK
2) sc delete NProtectService and then click OK

=================================

1. Download the Protocol Defaults Zip file here.

2. Save it to your desktop...

3. Unzip the file to reveal a reg file...

4. Close Internet explorer and all open windows...

5. double click the reg file and say yes to merge with the registry...

6. Restart your computer .

================================

Please download http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/s..."]Combofix and save it to your desktop.

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Post the ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

I have done everthing you have asked except these two were a little different than what you said to check.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop

This is how they looked when I was doing the fix.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktop

Notice where it says TYPE=3&a....when I went to fix them...they said TYPE=3&tp so I was not sure if I was to check them...

When ever I click on this link http://%5burl=%22'http//www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe I get this error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I also still have these spyware scan results. 180 Solutions Infected File "software\microsoft\internet explorer\urlsearchhooks" 180 Solutions Infected file "software\vb and vba program settings"

2ndThought Infected File "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" That one is one there twice.

I really feel like a pest and when I can I am going to make a donation to this web site. Any and all help you can give me would be great. Thank you so much! Kevin

Hi Kevin, :thumbsup:

I am afraid you forgot to post your HijackThis log. Anyway, I can already see the infection from the Combofix log. Go ahead with the following instructions now.

You seem to have some questionable adware/spyware applications installed. There are much better alternatives. Please go to Start>Control Panel>Add Remove Programs and remove the following:

NoAdware5.0
ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4

You have an infection that usually comes with the sponsor programs for Messenger Plus. Please also remove Messenger Plust from Add/Remove Programs while you're there. . If you really like the program and think it's very useful, you can install it again AFTER your system is clean again. Please make sure you install it without the sponsors. (They'll ask you in the beginning of the install)

Also, you are using some p2p file sharing programs, i.e. eMule and LimeWire. I think the nature of P2P filesharing is so that even if one is using a "clean" program, many of the files downloaded from non-documented sources have the potential of being infected. So, regardless of whether one is using a "clean" program, one may still be prone to infection by malware. I would strongly recommend that you remove them too.

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
  • Link 1
    Link 2
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
  • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
    <<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
  • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
  • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
  • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log
--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

=============================

Please open HijackThis.
Click on Open Misc Tools Section
Make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:
  • List all minor sections(Full)
  • List Empty Sections(Complete)
Click Generate StartupList Log.
Click Yes at the prompt.
It will open a text file. Please copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here

=============================

So, I'll be waiting for the NoLop.log, StartupList and a fresh HijackThis log.

I also removed messenger plus live, however when I went to remove NoAdware5.0 and ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4 they were no longer in the add/remove list. I ran the spyware scan again and both 180 Solutions and 2ndThought were both still there. Just tryin to stay one step ahead.
