since my system died down one by one... (it was my VC fan that died down first then my hdd, now my cd-rom wont open... :) what a luck...

anyway, can you suggest top 3 VC for me, that will cost around 7-8k PHP(roughly around $160-$170, i think  ) and top 3 motherboard, both should run the latest games like nfs carbon or TR:L B)

and ive got some question, are there really 2 kinds of HDD? Sata and IDE i think (i know IDE since im using IDE but not familliar with SATA) and whats their difference? will they work on a same MoBo? or theres compability issue between them?

and lastly, will my P4 1.8GHZ processor work on any pentium based MoBo? since i cant upgrade those in one time...

tnx!

7-8k PHP (Philippine peso right?) makes about 140-160$. You should be able to find a GeForce 7900GS in this price range, or maybe even a Radeon x1950Pro.

There isn't any difference between SATA and IDE in the hard-drives themselves, rather they have different connectors. IDE has the broad grey ribbon while SATA has a much smaller red cable. So that means you need a motherboard with IDE connectors for IDE hard-drives and a motherboard with SATA connectors for SATA hard-drives. Most modern motherboards have both even though IDE is slowly disappearing. You can use both types of hard-drives at the same time.

It is most likely a Socket 478 processor, which no moder Intel motherboard supports, they've all moved to Socket 775.
