Hello,

Your system is terribly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show.
Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution.
So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused.

You are most probably dealing with a File infector as well. This means here, in this case, EVERY exe and rar file may be infected on your system. This means as you already said - legit files as well. And those may not get deleted, but disinfected instead. So actually it's now all up to the scanners to disinfect them, because we can't do anything manually here.

Problem with this File Infector is (since I tested this one myself), when it attempts to infect a legit exe file, it sometimes may fail in doing this properly as well > result, the legit file doesn't get infected, but gets corrupted instead. Since those are not infected, Antivirusscanners won't flag them either, leaving you with a corrupt legit exe instead. So after the Antivirusscanner was able to disinfect the files, many files may still be present that are corrupt and won't work anymore. Those you'll have to replace afterwards with a "working" copy.

We can give this a try, but keep in mind that damage can still appear afterwards and a format and reinstall will still be the best - fastest and safest option.... since we can't always restore the corrupted files and fix the errors.
So if you decide to give it a try, perform next steps in the right order..

By the way, your Hijackthislog is incomplete - a part is cut off.

First of all, Download this to your desktop:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_exe_fix.zip
Unzip xp_exe_fix.zip and doubleclick the regfile present and let it merge into the registry. Because one of the infections you are dealing with change the exefile shell open command, which means, when you remove the infection, you have to restore the default shell open command, otherwise you won't be able to run any exe (unless you rename it to a com file).

Then, * Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

* Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox below in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\run]

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.
(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Shell Doc Object and Control Helper Class - {00009E9F-DDD7-AA59-AA7D-AA4B7D6BE000} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvs.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [spoolsvv] C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsvv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [lsass] C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\lsass.exe /RunOnce

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe, Click Start and Allow to run the express scan.
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • It could be possible it displays a popup to buy it in between, to buy or 50% discount. Just close that popup again.
  • Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  • Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
  • Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: Posted Image
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    Posted Image
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
-------------------
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log and the log from DrWebCureit
In case you're not able to run any exe's afterwards, doubleclick the regfix you saved previously ( xp_exe_fix.reg ) and let it merge again.

Ok so I have done everything up until the drweb cure it... whenever I open it and click start all I get is a screen like the first with the start and update buttons but with new buttons that say buy or 50 % discount. If i x out of that the whole program closes. This is all I see. So I can't get it to run the scan or anything.

Here is my new hijack this complete without getting cut off as above (oops):

Hi,

Can you also post the log from SDfix as I asked?

Also, please try DrWeb CureIt again, because it should run though. You only had to close the discount window. That will leave the main program open.

I really need you to run it since there are A LOT of very nasty infections present here.

When i close the discount window there is no main window. It just exits. I don't get it either. I even tried re-downloading and running again. Still the same problem. Hmmm. I am stumped. I guess I am going to go and run the sdfix and post that. Is there anything else i can do or another program i can run instead.

Hi,

Just skip the step with DrWeb CureIt then. As I already said, your system is so terribly infected that many tools will fail.
Since you decided to clean this up manually, you have to understand that we won't always able to solve this though, since you are also probably dealing with a file infector which infects legit files as well. There's nothing we can do about this in a manual way, since it's up to the scanners to DISinfect the infected legit files.
Also, A LOT of damage is already present here - malware damages a lot - and the more malware, the more damage, so you may not expect that we will be able to restore all damage either.
That's why I said previously, when a system is so terribly infected like that, the best, fastest and especially safest option is to format and reinstall Windows. Then you can be sure everything is clean again and you won't get any errors.

I guess I am going to go and run the sdfix and post that

You were actually supposed to do this already. I posted the instructions in my previous post. Keep in mind to perform SDfix in Windows Safe mode as instructed.

Then post a new Hijackthislog together with the log from SDFix.

Edit - I see you already posted the SDFix log.΅

Please do next now..

* Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
