Thanks for the welcome everyone!!!
TMI ALERT
I found Bleeping after I volunteered to help out a local non-profit youth association with their website,
and was promptly given their laptop and made their Membership Director.
I noticed the laptop running slow, (Dell Inspiron running XP) and was never updated, no fire wall, no virus / spyware software.....so on and so on.
Its main use was to enter families and their children's info into a database to make keeping track easier.
(I was told that it was NEVER to be hooked to the internet)
BUT - There was alot of file swapping going on via a thumb drive though.

Well, a quick check revealed several 'DLLs' had been changed, and thats what lead me to Bleeping.
(Google located a thread with similar issues on Bleeping..........)

Which also spurred to me do an in depth check of my home computer,
(home built, dual boot - WzkPro & linux......yadda yadda yadda)

Am currently going thru the 'pre-log posting' process posted by Grinler,
(EXCELLENT btw),
and am finding garbage on both boxes......

Once the machines are mean & clean, I'll post my logs asking for assistance.

Thanks again,
Wily

As you well know from reading the newspapers, there is always a potential problem with any unsecured database on a laptop, so you have certainly taken the correct steps. Also considered a disaster recovery process.

Thank you sir
I've done such a thing........................
the database is currently relatively 'small'
So I upload it to my external RAID once a week

Thanks again.............
and if anyone wants to look at my AVG & HJT logs I posted......
