First thing that comes to my mind is: Do your headphones work? I only ask this because last week I had a headset that started sounding like jumble, and come to find out that one of the magnets in the earpieces had come out...time for a new headset.

If your headset works fine, then it's a conflict between your sound card and your USB drivers (windows) attempting to run the sound. If you've got a headset plugged in USB, then it bypasses your sound card. Your sound card will only run what's plugged into it. All the settings that you've changed will only affect your sound card and what's plugged into it.

If you have drivers for your headset (or if you can get them from the manufacturers website) then install them. Go back into all the settings that you've changed and reset them to default.

I've been through this before, where I couldn't get my old usb headset to work with a soundcard. I changed everything, and never got it to work and messed up a few other things along the way. I ended up uninstalling my sound card then reinstalling it to get things to finally work.

 well still no go, i desabled the onboard sound only using the usb plantronics heaset , *NOTE* THE PLANTRONICS USB GAMECOM PRO1 HEADSET HAS IT ONE SOUND DEVICE/APLIFER ATTATCHED TO THE LINE , NO NEED FOR A SOUND CARD. THERE FOR IT RUN S ALL BY ITS SELF.

Did it come with drivers? Have you uninstalled them and reinstalled them? Have hit up the manufacturers website to get the latest drivers?

If you can't get nice sound out of them, the headset itself might be bad. There's little magnets in each ear piece, and if they are jarred loose, or the wired that connects to them is jarred loose (during shipping) then they'll jumble the sound or not work at all. I have a set that has been dropped and it knocked out the magnet on one side and loosened it on the other side....I got one side to work fine, but the other side sounds like garbage. You might want to consider returning them for another pair. Depending on where you got it, they may actually try them in the store to ensure they'll work.
