Moderator edit: log post moved to Team Forum for review and Member help. jgweed)

Hi,
I have spent many hours searching and downloading tools etc and can't fix this problem. I am not very comp literate. i know there are many posts regarding this topic, but so far, solutions aren't working. Can you please give me some advise?

Am using a non valid windows xp, SP1 (am unable to load SP2) and have many other problems, which I will post about later. I disabled the RPC service as this was closing me down all the time. I also am having major frustrations with the braodband connection as it times out within 5 minutes and have to disconnect the usb and start again, sometimes so many times that I have to restart the comp to get online.

The main problem is:

"exception unknown software software exception (0xc00000fd) occured in application at locatio 0x75869863"

I have used BOH removal, which finds 2 applications it says to keep.
I have used hijack this as you all seem to do that. the HT log says:

Hello spazy and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum.

Am using a non valid windows xp (am unable to load SP2)

That is a problem in and of itself. Non-legitimate and non-patched copies of XP will always have problems. We can try a few things but I cannot guarantee that they will work. Also, disabling the RPC service will cause many additional problems since there are many processes and services dependent upon it. You should re-enable it or you may find many applications will not run.

First print these directions and then perform the following steps in order:

Step #1

Download Brute Force Uninstaller

Unzip it to itís own folder (c:\BFU)

RIGHT-CLICK HERE ( http://metallica.geekstogo.com/EGDACCESS.bfu ) and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover. Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU)

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by double-clicking BFU.exe

In the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\EGDACCESS.bfu
Press execute and let it do itís job.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Step #2

Important
Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted.
  • Please open My Computer
  • Double-click on Local Disk (C:)
  • Click on the File menu, point to New and then click on Folder. Name the folder 'HijackThis' or 'HJT'.
  • Unzip to or copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://www.searchdot.net
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

Download ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:
  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Step #5

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Bitdefender <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean'.
eTrust <<<'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful
Housecall <<<Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.
Panda ActiveScan <<<Accept default settings
If there are any files that cannot be automatically disinfected or quarantined then you will need to delete them manually.

Step #6

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.
