hi, the pop ups were headed messenger service.

i followed the steps as you said, however with the cleanmgr step, nothing seemed to be happening for a long time, i eventually decided to move on to the next step. Regarding the step asking to search and remove the files, the search did not find those files. The reports are as follows:

You can remove the files from the AVG AS Quarantine:
-Launch AVG AS and click the Infections button.
-Click the Quarantine tab
-Choose: Select All
-Click: Remove finally
-A window pops asking "Are you sure you want to remove the selected files...??"
-Select: Yes

~~~
For the pop-ups, try the following:
Go to Start > Run, and type in: services.msc
Click: OK
In Services, under the Name column, scroll down to: Messenger
Double click on Messenger to bring up its properties.
In Messenger Properties:
Service Status area, click: Stop
Set Startup Type to: Disabled
See if that stops the pop-ups. Let us know.
Just let us know if the pop-ups come back! Hopefully, that will not be the case.
Take a good look at the following suggestions to remain malware free:
