I could've swore that I've seen a topic before here on common ports for a router that users had to open (or forward or whatever it's called) to get a game to connect online.......after a bit over an hour searching I can't find anything on it.

Can anyone help me here? Networking is not my friend, nor does it like me. It tends to bully me around actually, you know, calling me names, not letting me get online etc. etc. It's for a friends computer (who lives about 1,000 miles away) and he's having issues connecting to any online games due to his router. His security is high and he doesn't want to disable it I'm sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Which online game(s) are you trying to play? I would suggest finding out what port the online game uses and login to the router and open it OR adding the site to the allow list in the router (if it has one) and then the router will let that site through.

He said that he can't get to any online games...but I believe he's got Battlefield 2, Command and conquer Generals and the expansion pack Zero hour and the new CnC 3 demo.

Does the game websites list the ports for each game?

EDIT: Found this site: www.PortForward.com.....can anyone verify it as being useful and/or accurate? Again, I swear I've seen this site here on the forums someplace......
