Boot Failure

I need some urgent help. I was removing registry helper program from a computer in my lab and it was hanging up. I shut down the computer and when i tried restarting it I am getting a boot error: system Halted note on the screen. I tried safe boot f 12 and nutting is happeniing. It is a gateway computer pentium 111 running on windows XP.
Urgent help needed.
Education is a life long experience.

Boot using your XP CD and get into the recovery console. From there you can try fixboot and sfc.
