I found a good and reliable company for Hard disk data recovery. It is an US based ISO 9001:2000 certified data salvaging & recovery service lab in North America. You can visit them at www.salvagedata.com I gave them Laptop with a dead hard drive and I got my data back with repaired Hard drive. You can call them for professional at 800-970-7188.

Thats cool, but as you say you had to send it away to be repaired. I imagine thats a bit pricey.
