Actually, what you need are the drivers for the SATA controller. These are normally a part of the motherboard/chipset drivers and would be available from the website of the maker of the motherboard (Acer I presume from your post).
The driver should come in a file than can be extracted to a floppy disk - and from there I believe that you can use Device Manager to update the SATA drivers.
