When I run the games that I have downloaded off the internet, I keep getting a small blue screen advising
me that my resolution should be.....whatever. How do I remove this annoying pop up?. I know it must be in
the registry somewhere but not being a computer boffin , I don't know where.
Thanks in advance.

It may be in the game itself, or in the monitor software. Try searching through both to see if you can't find something to disable it (game menu and monitor menu). It's not really uncommon for a monitor to display this, but there's usually a "off" setting for the warning too.

Sometimes, if the games are old or not developed well (as most internet games are), you have to manually adjust the resolution because the game isn't powerful enough to do it, or if it's not running from your computer. You can do this by right clicking your desktop, clicking Properties and going to the Settings tab and adjust the slider (for screen size) and drop-down menu (for color quality) to the appropriate settings and switching it back after all is said and done. I've had to do this before with games that were originally developed for windows 95 or 98 when everything was 800x600 and 256 colors .
