Hello,

My Start Menu has been acting a little bit odd lately, for some reason no icons are being shown in the frequently used part of the menu.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Regards,

Alan.

First thing I would do is reboot and see if they rebuild. If that doesn't work then do the following:

Right click on Start. Click on Properties. In the Taskbar and Start Menu dialog box click on Customize. Under the general and Advanced tabs you can set your Start Menu options. Then close out by clicking on OK | Apply.

Have you installed any new programs or software recently?

Have you run any "clean-up" utilities lately? Some of these include an option to clean out the User Assist History. This would clear out the frequently used list in the start menu.

Thanks for the replies,

pwgib, I have had this problem for a while now, I have tried the start menu options the icons are still missing.

Budapest, I have several cleaning utilities that are run frequently, how would I go about convincing it to come back?
Regards,

Alan.

Could you post how you fixed it for other users with the same problem?

No Probs,

I was experimenting with some registry tweaks, I downloaded a few freeware tools to test them. I think that it was regtick pro that toold me that there were restrictions on the start menu. so I removed the restrictions and the icons came back gradualy as I used programs.

Thanks for the help
Regards,

Alan.
