Ok so I am good with computers except the CPU's. I have built 2 computers, with combo motherboards, and working on one for myself but I don't know what type or socket i need. I have a K8 Triton series AGP 8X Motherboard. This isn't a combo motherboard. Here is some info on what it says in the motherboards manual:

CPU: Socket 939 for AMD Sempron/ Athlon 64/ Athlon 64 FX/ Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor(K8)

Chipset: ULi M1689 Chipset

if you need more info i'll let you know.

I plan on using this computer for gaming, work related projects, web browsing. I need a good but not the "best" processor that is more then likely on Newegg.com.

Thanks in advance.

What's your budget?

Some say the FX is good for gaming. The following two for Socket 939 are listed at NewEgg. The retail FX-57 comes with a factory heatsink/fan and the FX-55 will need an aftermarket heatsink/fan purchased separately.

series : Athlon 64 FX > cpu socket type : Socket 939

Yeah, too bad it's extremely overpriced. Just get any of the 4200+ X2 chip and you'll be fine.
