Anyone know how to partition a drive in XP?..When I run diskmanagement both drives show primary partition and right clicking on unallocated space as directed in the help files seems impossible. The drive just displays primary partition and right click only returns options to explore or open and not the expected option to create new partition.

How can I make a partition on my hard drive for safe keeping incase windows needs to be re-installed.

Thanks so much

As far as I know, you need another program such as "Partition Magic". I don't think you can use Windows XP except when you format, before installing.

Go HERE for some alternative programs that are free. Might be you can find what you want there.
