I have a HP Laptop-XP home SP2-P3-480RAM
I've been looking for days on google & other places to find an answer to my winlogon.exe problem. I recently uninstalled pc-cillin antivirus. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but soon after at start-up & shut down I get this error "winlogon.exe" I don't know if I uninstalled something wrong or what. Some answers I've found say to reinstall the file from the OS disk. I do not have the disks now. I'm pretty sure its not a virus. Its passed hijackthis every time. I've run many virus scans & winlogon.exe never gets flagged. I don't think the problem is doing anything noticeable to my system (of course I don't know it might be). Its more of an annoyance. It could be a sign of other trouble. I'd appreciate some help.

Without the OS disk (or a restore partition) you're pretty much out of luck. winlogon is a core Windows file and works closely with the security features of the OS - to repair/replace it you'll need the disk.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
