Help With Memory And Hd On Hp

Hi im new to the forums here and needs some help. I have a HP Pavilion zt3000 series notebook to be exavt its an zt3280us. I just purchased a samsung hm120jc 120gb harddrive from newegg and G-Skill Memory also from newegg. I need some help my computer keeps giving me a messege when i turn it on with the new harddrive in and the windows xp pro disk in the cd drive. The messege is non system disk error. I need help getting this hd to run so I can install windows. Also to the memory I bought is the G-Skill F2-5300PHU2 1gb DDRII667 i dont know if my computer is ddr or ddrii will this work on my computer. Sorry to ask such dumb questions but computers are just not my thing. Thanks in advance

First things first:

this is the correct memory:

Maximum Memory 2048MB DDR SDRAM (2 x 1024MB) the machine uses DDR 333 the DDR 2 will not fit.

Now to the HDD:

to boot of the XP Pro CD:

with the CD in the drive, tap the {ESC} key when you first see the HP logo on the screen you should the get a boot menu.

select the CDROM option and {Enter}

then you should have a message PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD...

at this point tap the {SPACEBAR}

the xp cd should then boot

read and follow the instructions at this point, and ask questions if you have any doubts or questions.

You should have no problems with this ram.

However I personally would purchase two of these:
