i'm currently infected by a virus named "virus exploit-dropper.1table"

after i booted up my pc this morning, the avg resident shield picked up this virus. so i healed it but avg said it cannot heal it cause there's not enough information to heal it.

after a while my pc crashed and i cannot boot up, damn! it's a good thing we have 2 pc's here so i looked up a solution for my problem and found an xp repair install link here. it worked.

anyway after fixing my pc. i ran a scan in avg and when it detects an infected file, everytime i move the infected file to the virus vault, another file gets infected immediately. i got tired of doing this over and over again so i disabled the resident shield for the meantime and looked it over trough the net. unfortunately, i cannot find anything to cure this virus except that this is a new kind of exploit and that windows has to make a patch for this.

this virus exploit-dropper.1table affects mainly word and document files, specially those with the extensions .docs and .dots.

i got a folder full of .doc files and it was all infected! i have no choice but to delete that folder. sheesshh!

so, can anyone here help? thanks!

Are you still having problems with the virus exploit-dropper.1table?
AVG7 updated its definitions, and this should no longer be a problem.

~~~~
However, the HijackThis log is showing an outdated version of the Windows XP Service Pack.
It is very important you download Service Pack 2 (SP2) !! It patches many of the security vulnerabilities through which attackers can gain access to your computer.
Please download SP2 from the Microsoft Windows Updates website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
Post back on how this goes. If you experience any problems downloading SP2, it could indicate malware resides in your system!!
