I have a Trust 240TH scanner ( Item 12921-02) with 35mm slide scan adaptor - the reason I own the device. I've been struggling to install the downloaded driver software ( 12920_08.exe V. ) into WinXP/SR2 - and apparently failing at the Add New Hardware stage.

The OS seems unable to recognise the driver installation. Following the Add New Hardware wizard through, and indicating the C:/....~/Trust/....~/Driver folder, the dialog box shows a greyed-out 'OK' click-box. I am unable to get the OS to recognise a driver in there, or anywhere else.

Now, I've uninstalled, downloaded, installed, failed, uninstalled and cleaned-up, several times - just in case of a rogue download.

I've tried to install on a brand-new C2D WinXP/MCE machine that's not yet connected to the 'net, using a pen drive. Exactly the same result.

I'm unable to marry the software with the hardware, and I suspect a software problem with a) the driver download from the Trust website, or  the OS.

How do I progress this?
