i am running a windows xp professional on my pc.
at moment i have a lot of versions of .NET Framework installed (1.1, 2.0, 3.0).
Do i, really need, .NET Framework??
for my opinion .net framework ist an optional component of windows xp.
is possible to deinstall al the .NET versions without impacting the functionality of windows?
I am NOT a developpe..just an user..

than you for answers

while it is not required by the operating system, many programs do need the framework installed in order to run.

so i have to keep 3 different releases of .NET Framework installed.
correct?
normally the newest release of a product supersedes the previous release of the same product...
so i am a little surprised

Different programs rely on different versions of .NET framework.
