I once had a virus on my computer and came to bleeping computer to get rid of it - my regular virus protection programs didn't detect it, but the BC techs figured it out. I think I may have another undetected virus as my computer suffers symptoms of corruption and would like help checking and remove any potentially threatening files.

I am using Windows XP and the symptoms include the computer processing speed slowing down and frequent freeze ups. I have used disk cleanup and defragmentor, as well as various virus scanners which came up with little.

A couple of things you can try:

Run an online scan such as:

Housecall
Windows Live OneCare

Go to the website of you HDD manufacturer where you chould be able to download a diagnostic tool to check for HDD errors.

Run a memory test. Memtest 86 - A Stand-alone Memory Diagnostic
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
