Today I received a pop-up message that "This computer is in use and has been locked". I click okay and the message goes away. No password has ever been set on this computer and I use Windows XP Home Edition. Does anyone know why this message has all of a sudden popped up?

The message goes away because no password has been set. If there was a password, you wouldn't be able to click OK and exit - it'd prompt you for the password then.

This is usually due to a change in the screensaver settings. Go to a blank area of your desktop and right click on it. Then, select the screensaver tab. There should be a check mark next to "On resume, display Welcome screen". Remove the checkmark and then click on OK - you shouldn't be bothered by the message again.

John:

Thank you so much for your help. No log in message appeared today. I had read on the internet about this possibly being a screen saver issue, but could not understand exactly what to do. Your advice was very easy to understand. Thanks again!

Terry
