Where are you plugging in the speakers? If you are plugging them into the front of the case, then perhaps you missed hooking up the audio leads to your motherboard.

i havent connected the front panel audio as they are a dif plug to the mobo. I am plugging in to the rear in the correct coloured socket i tried again last night to install a new sound card and couldnt even get the comp to start so i think may be some thing is clashing but what i dont because i have installed nothing new at all and it used to work fine before changing cases, i think i have prob damaged mobo connection when swapping over cases which i a shame coz thats gonna be expensive to replace just for audio.

Do you see any problems in device manager, IE red X's or question marks?

If you go into the sound control panel, does it list something as its default playback device?

Yeah that sounds like a mobo problem to me. Have you checked that it is properly raised off the bottom of the case? You may have a short somewhere.

Can you please give us excact type of Mobo and further setup? If you go to CONTROL PANEL and than SOUND is there anything you see? If you click the taskbar bottom left you see a little speaker there. If you double click that is there a box clicked mute all? I'm shooting here of the top of my head here.

it turned out to be a mobo problem after all even with second board a little bit down to my self though tbh gone to far with the over clocking despite the fact it worked for a whilr it turns out some parts where running faster than others and just could'nt communicate with each other got it all sorted now though. smiles all round . i have got a amd athlon dual core 3800+ running at 2.7ghz at the mo its good enough for me with a asus k8n sli deluxe mobo and 2 7900gt cards also slightly over clocked hehe it will do for me for now, well at least untill i get my next opteron cpu and start breakin that baby in lol or may be breakin something else lol thx all for help and ideas on whatn the problem could have been most app :flowers:
