Cannot Uninstall Norton Anti-virus 2004 Pro

Hey everyone, when i try and uninstall norton, it gives me this error message,

(Error 1606: Cannot access network location: %userprofile%\recent.)

is there some way i can get rid of the program without formatting and reinstalling??? any help would be appreciated

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool(SymNRT) for your version of Windows. (skip step 3 if your not going to reinstall your Norton product).
