A new rogue-antispyware application called SpyCrush has been released. This program, a variant of VirusBurst, uses fake alerts, misleading reports, and malware as a goad to scare you into purchasing the full version of their software.It goes without saying that you should go nowhere near this software nor should you even entertain giving them money. The amusing thing is that when you install the software, the End User License Agreement does not reference the name SpyCrush, but rather its predecessor VirusBurst. This can be seen in the image below.
These new variants are also modifying the Windows HOSTS file to block access to many of the anti-malware sites on the Internet. This makes it difficult for the user to get information on how to clean themselves. For those who may be infected with this software we have created a removal guide here.
