Hello,

I tried downloading the latest version of Windows Live Messenger, and it stated that I did not have something to do with error 1601... I don't know what that meant, but so far, I checked forums and its a standard issue. That was fine, and I just left myself to my devices without Windows Live Messenger.

Now I want to install SuperAntiSpyware, and it says that I don't have the proper tools. Upon searching, I realized that I don't have msiexec.exe in my computer, and I am running Windows XP SP2...

I don't know whats wrong. If you can help me, that'll be great. I appreciate everything.

Hi, msiexec.exe is a of windows Installer component and is used to install new programs that use Windows Installer package files so that is why you can not insall any thing, go here and download the latest windows insaller.

Yes. I downloaded the file and installed it, but I downloaded to a random directory (Gamespy Arcade, to be exact). Personally, I don't know where to install it.

Thanks for the quick responses :D

Hi,

Thanks for that info. I downloaded to desktop and installed as planned; however both Windows Live Messenger and SuperAntiSpyware won't work.

Hi,

Sorry for this added bit, but I don't fully understand what you are telling me to do. I think there is an actual fault within system and the fact that C:/Windows/System32 is missing some vital files.

Also, MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978) was not installed for the past few months, and now it refuses to install. I must have forgotten to tell you; I am sorry.

Ah ok, recovery console may be the only option if you have sys32 corruption.
