 googled this (Naomi.exe) and the only info I can find is that Naomi is an advanced Internet filtering program, easy to use, intended for families and kids in particular. Naomi is able to constantly monitor all Internet connections, protecting children from inappropriate online material - such as obscene or violent contents; pornography, pedophilia and erotism in the form of images or texts; sites that popularize drugs; gambling games; terrorism; hate propaganda; occultism; sects; blasphemy. Naomi does not rely on a simple list of banned sites; instead, it examines in real-time all the data being transmitted and received through any Internet application - such as Web browsers, chat programs, news readers. Version 3.2.9 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

I'm trying to help someone on another forum who is certain that this is malware/spyware and is unable to boot his PC in any mode.

His reply. Quote
Nope. I keep tapping F8, which I think is how to get Safe Mode, when the PC boots but nothing happens. For some weird reason, when I just clicked on F12 as the PC boots, I'm able to load the Boot Menu but then my the PC freezes again. I've been advised to get a DOS Anti-virus program but don't know any...

someone else told him to download and burn knoppix to a cd/dvd to gain access to windows. Is this viable or???

His reply.Quote
Anyhow, no F8 won't work and when I press F12 the Boot Menu appears but my PC freezes once again. I then tried rebooting the PC and clicking on Delete to open the menu where I set the boot options to the DVD combo drive. Next, I inserted in the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD1. However, for some reason the PC just boots from the Hard Drive...

So I've decided to go for the knoppix option and at the moment I'm downloading Knoppix v5.1.1 DVD using uTorrent 1.6. What I'm wondering, though, is what I'm informed from the knoppix website is that they're mainly mentioning the Knoppix CD version and not the DVD one. This is why I'm downloading the DVD version, which'll take at least a day to download, because I only have DVD-R blanks... If I download the CD version, and burn it to a blank DVD, will this be ok? If so, I'll be less stressful since I'll have to wait less then.

About the "burn the .iso to a useable OS disk using this" part in your reply, do you mean that I burn the .iso to the very same would-be Knoppix-included DVD? And will Knoppix run straight away before Windows starts up? Otherwise, I'll remain in the same problem as the newly burnt DVD will be useless...

Are we on the right track????

I have looked at the knoppix website. The live cd consists of various OS. Wouldn't it be possible to use HJT and delete on reboot? Does he/she wants to get rid of the application

Knoppix won't get you into Windows as it is a separate operating system. It will allow you to get access to the HDD so you can copy important data that you need. If the computer won't boot from the Windows CD you should check BIOS to see if it is set up to boot from a CD.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.

I'm trying to help someone on another forum who is certain that this is malware/spyware and is unable to boot his PC in any mode.

You can start by informing him that Naomi is a a safe Internet filtering program often used by parents to control the content of what their children may access. You can add that you are not here to help circumvent restrictions put in place by parents if they insist on removing it.

If he cannot boot, then refer him to:
