After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,

hi, it seems like the procedures are not going smoothly.
i have encountered a few obstacles.

my first problem came when i tried to delete
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\BETHL~1\LOCALSETTINGS\Temp\upxdnd.exe
when i tried to open C: from My Computer a noticed popped up which said:
" Windows XP set up
please go to the control panel to install and configure system components. "
so i chose the "explore" option after right clicking with the mouse, i successfully opened C:\ with this method, but i couldnt find upxdnd.exe, and i made sure hidden files were showing. so i moved on to the next procedure.

More problems came when i tried to use counterspy, the scan would freeze from time to time. the second time i tried, it took a tremendously long time, and ending up with freezing. and the third time i tried with quick scan, it took a long time again, but the progress bar was not even at 1/4, so i tried to scan different parts separately, like scanning registries first then memories next.

i successfully scanned memories, nothing was detected, then i tried to scan the registries, but the program froze.

this is the history for the third time i tried quick scan, since the first and second made my computer froze, i had to restart it. so there was no history.

Download\install AVG Free Edition Antivirus:
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup...ree_441a944.exe
Update AVG's virus definitions and run a full system virus scan.

**********************************

Then try running Counterspy again in Safe Mode:
Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE" using the F8 method.
To do this,restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

When you've done,post a new Hijackthis log into your next reply.
Let me know how you got on please.
