Without installing any changes (on my part) the 'Stand By' option is now grayed out on the 'Turn Off Computer' popup. I am running XP Pro on a Dell Optiplex 170L. I have tried reloading XP. I have checked the BIOS (Power Options show Suspend Mode set to S3). Still no Stand By. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Most commonly this is caused by corruption of the video drivers. Go to the Dell website and download the latest version of the video drivers. Then uninstall the current ones (just to be safe) and then install the newly downloaded ones. This fixes most of the standby/hibernation issues that I've seen.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
