Thoe I notice nothing unusual here myself im getting hijacked searches from google, i searched for file i noticed running, v6.exe and now i get searches relating to "monstermarketplace." I know rightly im being hijacked as the page takes the best of 30 seconds to load rather than instant. Norton picked up some trojans as well as this and i thought i had removed them manually and used vundofix to remove anything else buggy...i was wrong

Now ive a lot of programs, Windows Defender, Spybot search & Destroy, Spywareblaster, Ad-Aware SE Pro, yahoo Anti-Spy, CCleaner and of course Norton Internet Security which dew to another reason beyond my control is now 5 days from end of trial though its legit and should be activated.. (Dont ask, im already pissed about it..) I update these DAILY, scan WEEKLY!!! and same with updating windows so im wondering wth i have here...

Hello,

Please download FixwareOut from one of the following sites:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Note: ONLY if you have connection problems after performing above steps - go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Hi,

Nothing here though...
So, as I understand here, when you search for something using google, your searchresults get Hijacked?

By the way, I see you have the BitCometHelper BHO installed. I do not recommend this one.. so if it has an uninstall option in add/remove, I recommend you uninstall it.

Also, I see flashget installed. In case you are using the Free version (didn't pay fo it), I also recommend you uninstall it, because the free version may show advertisements. Once you register flashget, these advertisements will disappear.

Extra note, as I read from your first post, you installed Norton Internet Security, but the trial version. Keep in mind, once the trial expires, it won't protect you anymore against new threats. So, or you have to purchase it, or you have to uninstall it and install a Free alternative instead.
Look in my signature where it says AntivirusScanners and Firewalls. There you'll find a free alternative.
Keep in mind, never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall, so if you decide to install another one, make sure you uninstall Norton Internet Security first.

Are you still having problems with the Hijacked search results now?

Oh i know it will expire and im buggered then, i had an agreement with someone i know that i fixed their laptop, he buys norton as my payment and i get one of the three licenses...it didnt work out that was as i went to register all three licenses were taken hence breaking the agreement.. :

Actually for your information flashget is now free without adware, check the site if you wish ;)

I dont really use the bitcomet browser helper but i just have it installed if i ever need be, i use flashget for downloading large files as my crappy internet provider tiscali randomly decides to disconnet on me quite often tho a constant ranting and moaning to them never works. Hence i can resume a download easier with flashget or even bitcomet. :flowers:

And yes i seem to have cleared the crap out, whatever it was. Spybot DID find smitfraud toolbar a few days ago but nothing since.

Aha, thanks for letting me know.

Good to hear that the redirections are gone.

It's a pity to hear about the Norton licenses. So I assume you got invalid licenses?
On the other side (and this is a personal opinion), in some cases you're better off with one of the free Antivirus and Firewalls I recommend instead of Norton Internet Security. One of the reasons is, NIS is not a security suite for every user since every system is different and in some cases you have to tweak a lot of settings in it to make it work properly.
Also, it may cause a serious system slowdown.

But as I said, this is my personal view about NIS. :flowers:

Anyway,

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.

Ive a decent system and a fair amount on the startup but im happy enough with my boot time, sub 100 seconds i think i get usually if i have the wireless turned off. NIS2007 runs well with me, does a decent job like. Hate macafee and if i was to instal a new AV and FW i would tend to format..and i only did this a week ago and lost university assignments dew to a pen drive failure..its been a rough few weeks with me

Everything flowing well now, no slowdown apart from the crappy ISP, Ty for the help miekiemoes
