I just started having this problem recently. I hope somebody can identify the problem.

My PC is running just fine right now but recently I am having this high pitched sound coming from my computer everytime I am processing something. It is now getting worst, I hear small beeps everytime i hit the keyboard. I really cant describe the sound, except it is high pitch and nonstop when I am playing a game. I opened up my computer to try to determine where the sound is coming from, but I really can't tell.

I'm thinking it could be the hard drive or the CPU. But it sounds like it's coming from the power supply.

I don't think this is a common problem but I am hoping some experts can tell me what's going on. Thank you in advance.

Is it a mechanical (whirring, grinding, ect,) or a computer sound (beeps)?
I think it's coming from the system speaker, what beep pattern does it follow (in short beeps and long beeps)

It's more like a high pitched whirring sound. Definitely not from system speaker.I don't think it's error beeps. But it sounds more like electrical than mechanical. Kinda like a modem when it's trying to connect to the internet but only with higher pitch. It happens too when I use the mouse scroll and when i'm running programs. Can't isolate the sound so it's hard to tell where it's coming from. And the sound is continuous when I am playing games. Is it possible that's it's coming from CPU?

Thanks for responding.

Sounds like your video card fan, mine does that once in a while when using memory intensive applications like games and gamma testing with colors and such. What video card do you have, and does it have a fan on it? That could be it, just throwing this possibility out. I read the reviews on my card, an XFX 7600 GT 256MB, and people said that the fan gets noisy, sounding to me like that high pitch whirring you describe. I got used to it, it happens off and on. Hope this helps
