I have WinXP Media Center on a Sony VGC-RB62G with a system restore disk. This is not a separate WinXP Media Center CD. When I run SFC /scannow, I get a message to insert my WinXP Pro CD2.I have tried to copy I386 from another computer with WinXP Home to C:\ and change the SourcePath to C:\. under Windows\currentversion\setup,Setup\ServicePackSourcePath and WinNT\CurrentVersion. I still get the same message that says to retry, more information and cancel. Is there another SourcePath in the registry that I may be missing?

There's some registry locations in my post here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/ but more importantly there are some links to others with far more experience with SFC.EXE that may help you out.

FYI - there was a problem with Dells and MCE and the workings of SFC.EXE - but I'm not familiar enough with the Sony methods to see if that is the case here.

Another option would be to do a non-destructive System Restore (if the option is available) - that will do the same thing as SFC.EXE, but you'll have to visit Windows Update again for all your updates.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

(23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.
